I have listed some of the things I plan to accomplish during the month of October.
6th Grade English – We will cover units 5 through 8 in spelling. We normally cover a unit a week with the work being due on Wednesday and the test being on Friday. We will continue working on Unit 1, which consists of writing paragraphs with a topic sentence and narrative writing. The units are quite long, so I will be giving a quiz about every 7 – 8 days.
6th Grade Math – The students are grouped for math; the groups are called blue and white. The blue group is working on chapter 2, patterns and variables. By the middle of the month, we will begin chapter 3, number theory and fractions. The white group is reviewing adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals. Then, I plan to spend a good deal of time on division, whole numbers and decimals.
7th Grade English – We will cover units 5 through 8 in the spelling book. I will be covering the use of nouns and pronouns. We will also be doing various writing activities, including writing effective paragraphs and writing compositions.
7th Grade Math – We are concluding chapter 2, equations and inequalities. By the middle of the month we will begin operations with fractions.
8th Grade English – We will cover units 5 through 8 in the spelling book. I will be covering the use of nouns and pronouns. We will also be doing various writing activities, including writing effective paragraphs and writing compositions.
8th Grade
Algebra – Students are beginning to solve equations that are more
complex. We will also begin to see more
word problems this month. Students will
write an equation from a word problem and solve it. Students are well aware that they can use
calculators on all assignments and tests.
8th Grade Pre-Algebra – We are just completing chapter 3, operations with decimals. In the next chapter we will cover order of operations and solving 2-step equations.
