Kindergarten 2008

The cooler weather is finally here!  We are still going outside for our recess, so please dress your child appropriately!!

We have a very busy month!  In October, we are going to visit Siegel’s Cottonwood farm.  There we will learn about a working farm, how pumpkins grow, and feed the animals!

In our Phonics, we are beginning our word worm.  This is on the wall in our classroom.  Our word worm has 3 letter words on each body part.  As we learn new words, our worm will continue to grow.  We will be learning the sounds for letters Pp, Aa, Nn, and Mm this month.  Be on the lookout for our new letters and words to be coming home on our work.

We are continuing to learn our sight words.  We are working on the words I, on, is.  The students are working on reading books with our sight words.

In our math unit, we have just completed a unit on sorting.  A few of the ways we learned to sort objects was according to size, type, and color. We are beginning a new unit on numbers. To begin, we will be practicing printing the numbers 0-5.

We have practice different lines we will need to print our letters.  We have learned horizontal, vertical and slant lines.  Now we are using these lines to print letters. We have learned the letters Ll, Tt, and Ii.  We are working on the letters Aa, Dd, and Oo.

Our religion has amazed us with all the beautiful things God has made for us!  We have discussed such things God has made such as animals, plants, and even our families.  All the children are doing wonderful learning their prayers.  We are able to pray together, instead of echoing Mrs. Nelson!
