SMN (5th through 8th
grade) football team was victorious over St Paul (7th & 8th
grade) football team by a score of 21 to 9.
In the first half on SMN first offensive set
Jared O ran a right sweep roughly 65 yards for the first score.
Jared ran in the extra point. SMN 7 St Paul 0 at half time.
In the second half, St Paul pinned us down in
our own end zone for a 2-point safety. Jared O answered that score
with a sweeping run play resulting in a touchdown. No extra point.
St Paul scored a touchdown on a run play and made the extra point to
tighten the score of the game to SMN 13 St Paul 9. Our defense had
some nice stops by Josh Sanders, Cam G, and Michael G to hold St
Paul from scoring again. Michael G had a great interception to stop
the St Paul drive. Late in the game, Jared O scored for the third
time on another sweep. Mike B connected on a pass to Cam G in the
end zone for 2 extra points. It was a total team effort. Many of
our players made nice blocks, had great flag pulls, and spread the
field in order to cover our opponent. First and foremost our SMN
team had fun!!!!!
