Principal's Letter

Hello Visitors,

As principal of St. Mary Nativity School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school. St. Mary Nativity was established in 1906 when the Rev. George Violich came to Joliet from Croatia to establish the parish. The school has always been an integral part of the life of St. Mary’s and began of the Joliet immigrant community. The student body today represents a wide spectrum of backgrounds. There are children whose forebear were founding families, those of second and third generation’s graduates, along with children whose parents newly arrived to the area come searching for a stable educational environment for their children.

St. Mary Nativity School provides a safe, positive and creative learning environment through partnership with the parents and the parish community. St. Mary Nativity is a Catholic Grade School that begins with preschool and continues through eighth grade. We have several preschool options and full day kindergarten.

Our faculty and staff are committed to providing a quality catholic education for each student. The teachers combine time tested traditional teaching methods and current best practices to equip our students with the tools necessary to be successful in the 21st century.

As a catholic school, at the core of what we do is faith formation. Our students attend weekly mass, participate in in Adoration, Reconciliation, Faith Families, Sacramental Preparation, daily prayer and service opportunities. The students of St. Mary Nativity learn to cherish and live their faith on a daily basis.

Thank you for your interest in and consideration of St. Mary Nativity for your family. I invite you to call, set up a visit and tour of our school. We would welcome the opportunity to show you our school and see what St. Mary Nativity has to offer.

St. Mary Nativity, “where every child achieves more.”

God Bless You & Your family,

Mr. Larry White.
