We have completed six weeks of school and students are actively involved working on projects and are participating in group activities.
This week the students in grades 4-through 8 represented the beads on the rosary in church on Tuesday, October 7. This day is the liturgical fest of Our Lady of the Rosary. Each student will either be responsible for an Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, or one of the Joyful Mysteries. We have invited our parishioners, parents, and family member to join us in praying together the rosary. A big thank-you to the teachers for preparing our students.
This school year we have changed to trimesters; our first interim will be sent home on Thursday, October 9th. Every six weeks a student will receive either an interim or report card. One of our concerns was that teachers at times accumulated a minuscule number of grades prior to sending home interims. With fewer grades it was not an accurate assessment of the student's ability. This had an affect on students in junior high for being eligible to participate in sports.
The time frame for conferences has also changed, it will be held a few days before Thanksgiving. If a parent feels that they need to schedule a conference prior to the designated day that is set aside, please call the office to set a time to visit with your child's teacher.
Mr. Malinowski received a letter from the office of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, Sports and The President’s Challenge Program. Mr. Malinowski and our school has earned the highest award for outstanding achievement in physical fitness and are now distinguished as a Physical Fitness State Champion for the 2007-2008 school year. Way to Go Mr. Malinowski and students!!!!!!
We had Bailey in fourth grade be a winner in the Bicentennial Pumpkin drawing contest, Bailey also was the winner for her grade level in the Fire Prevention contest. Meagen in third grade won second place, and Zack in fourth grade won third place in the same contest. Congratulations, way to go!!!!
Our school entered the Bicentennial Pumpkin decorating contest. We are waiting for the results to be published. Our students had a great time decorating their pumpkins and the creativity was astonishing.
Our seventh graders are performing service hours at Our Lady of Angels nursing home during the course of this school year. They want to bring joy to the seniors.
Later in the month we will have guest speakers on internet safety for 5th thru 8th graders and bike safety presentation for K-3 graders. The Rotary Club will be here for their yearly visit.
