off to a good start, getting acquainted with the classroom schedule and
routines. We have nine new students this year; Eric, Sterling, Adrian, Nicole,
Brianna, Savanna, Vann, Louis and Khamari. We welcome them all to our class and
their families to St. Mary Nativity School.

Please bring in a HEALTHY snack. ( Fruit, vegetables, crackers and cheese,
granola bars, mini-muffins, bottled water or juice boxes)
Supplies and Supply Boxes
Every Friday your child will be bringing home their boxes with supplies, PLEASE
be sure to replenish any supplies needed for the following week, especially
PENCILS SHARPENED!! Don’t forget also you may need to replace the box from time
to time because of wear and tear or perhaps just to change for fun!!!
Assignment Notebook
Student will be able to write in their Daily Assignment books their homework!
PLEASE check it daily and Sign or initial it.
Physical Education
The second graders will be dressing in gym uniforms. Please make sure that your
child’s name is printed clearly on all clothing, shoes and gym bags. This will
help to eliminate any mix-ups in clothing. Also please keep all gym clothing in
a gym bag. Gym is on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:10 a.m. On Thursday, children
will be taking their gym clothes home to be washed for the following week. P.S.
It may also be helpful to have your child’s name in their school uniforms.
(Jumpers, shirts and pants).
Math and Phonics
Please keep all Math and Phonics sheets in a special place for review until the
end of the chapter tests.
In Math, we will develop and use math vocabulary relating to plane shapes.
Identify, classify and describe plane shapes by sides and vertices, identify and
classify angles, congruent shapes and lines of symmetry. We will also create
geometric patterns to solve problems.
In Phonics we are reviewing Beginning, Medial and Final Consonant Sounds…and then we will be off reviewing all the Short Vowel Sounds.
During the month of September, it looks like a very busy month with a lot of
new projects.
I look forward to working with your child this year. I am positive that together
with your help we can make this a challenging and rewarding experience for all.
