Miss Ludrovec’s Classroom
Wow, it’s hard to believe that November is already here!
November is a time for “settling in for the winter” looking forward to the
winter holidays, and pausing to give THANKS for family and friends.
I would like to extend my holiday wishes to all of you
And let us remember all the wonderful blessing God has given to us!!
In Religion, we are beginning to prepare ourselves for First Reconciliation. The next four chapters will help us make a link to confession by learning about the many way we can become more forgiving to others and the celebration of God forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. During these chapters the children will be receiving some study sheets to prepare them in making a good confession.
• Please review and use the study sheet with your child to help them learn
the
Steps to Confession and the Ten Commandments.
• Students will also need to know the following prayers: The Our Father, The
Hail Mary and the Glory Be
Our major unit to focus on during this month will be built around
Leaves + Trees = FUN!!!
We will discuss the falling leaves, autumn colors, days
getting shorter and the temperature getting colder. We will discover more about
the
many kinds of trees and leaves and identifying the parts of both the tree and
the leaf. Some activities will be: building a tree and acting out the various
parts of a tree, leaf rubbing and sponge painting. I hope that your child will
share with you some of this unbe-LEAF-able work!
In Math we are continuing on to Chapter 4:Graphing In this
chapter we will develop and use math vocabulary relating to data, graphing and
probability. We will use tally marks, pictographs, and bar graphs to compare
information. Locate and identify points and coordinate grid along with reading
and making line graphs and Venn diagrams. Extending these graphs to solve
problems and make predications.
• Don’t forget to continue to review with your child as often as you can both Addition and Subtraction facts. It will make it so much easier for your child.
Parents please note: Remember to keep all your math book pages that come
home.
This will help you at the end of the Chapter to study for the test(s).
All pages are torn out as we go over the material each day, therefore,
you will not have any pages in the book to study from at the time of the test.
Incorporating Spelling and Phonics together, we are exploring the Long Vowel
Sounds a, e, i, o, u. Skills include isolating and identifying long vowel
sounds, segmenting and blending onsets and rimes, reading and writing long vowel
words in context
Rules
• Vowel-Consonant-Silent e pattern
• First Vowel long and the second one is silent
• Parents please note also to keep phonic sheet to study for future Phonics
Tests
Handwriting
It’s just around the corner that we will begin CURSIVE!!!! I know that the
children are looking for to this….however it is a slow process. Please be
patient!! We will begin with the under curve stroke letters: i, t, e, u, w. They
will have some homework from time to
time to practice their letters. Please be sure to check the book for step by
