Academics
Happy February Everyone!!! This has been a busy month so far for our students, and they have been adding several performances to their resumes!
Our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade classes performed for the JoAnn-ites during Catholic Schools Week. They performed a song titled, "The Future Begins With Us", and the traditional spiritual "Do Lord". It was reported back to me that they were fantastic, and they should be very proud of their performance!!!
At Holy Cross, our Kindergarteners and morning Pre-K's are recording artists!! We learned several songs for Valentine's Day, and recorded them. Each student received a CD to give to their parents as a special Valentine's Day gift. This recording certainly deserves a Grammy!!!
Our 8th Graders just finished a listening project to Respighi's "The Pines of Rome". With the help of Mrs. Shields, we were introduced to Windows Movie Maker, and we created our own movies to the music. Pretty Cool!!!
On a serious note, I would like to thank you all for the support you give to our music program here at Nativity. This past month, I have watched several friends lose their jobs due to budget cuts in their districts, and several music programs being cut completely because of funding. It's always sad to see that when the going gets tough, the arts are the first to go. I won't take your time to explain the benefits of the arts in education, but to thank you for your continued support. We are in preparations for our Spring Program, an evening where we can come together to celebrate the importance of the arts. I hope you will join us on that night.
Many Thanks, Miss Sipll
